41-year-old pot box murder still unsolved
Anglers found Catherine Ann Corbello Martin, 20, floating face down on Black Bayou, south of Lake Charles, in Calcasieu Parish just after eight in the morning, February 18, 1982. Someone had tied her hands behind her back, stabbed her seventeen times in the chest, strangled her, and dislodged her right eye from its socket.
St. Helena Strangler escapes justice
Monday morning, November 12, 1979, two hunters discovered the body of a teenage boy at a garbage dump in Darlington, east of Greensburg. The circumstances of his death matched at least two others in the area, leading the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office to suspect they had a serial killer walking among them.

Officially, Adam John “A. J.” Breaux died in 1998, the day a judge declared him legally dead. However, no one knows what happened to the friendly clothing sales clerk who vanished on August 27, 1991. The search for A. J. Breaux began 30 years ago this year, but every August, without fail, his three grown daughters reach out to the news media, still hoping to learn the fate of a father they loved.
